Bitname aims to offer a Bitcoin name service characterized by immutability and security with scalable features. This service is designed to serve as a comprehensive infrastructure throughout the Bitcoin ecosystem, creating a blockchain identity matrix with Names at its core, based on the Bitcoin platform, to significantly enhance user experience and network security.
In collaboration with the SRC20 team, Bitname has developed a protocol tailored for name service’s functionalities, updating official indices for new protocol support. This protocol offers high scalability, the ability to call external data, and support for future functional upgrades. Bitname has already implemented features that streamline trading to reduce fees, enable domain management via the Bitcoin blockchain for payments and renewals, and support modular features for future asset-layer functionalities.
Bitname supports all Bitcoin address types including Legacy, Nested Segwit, Native Segwit, and Taproot, ensuring backward compatibility with any future Bitcoin address formats.
Bitname stores assets directly in the Bitcoin blockchain's UTXO, outside the Segregated Witness (SegWit), ensuring permanent on-chain storage that can never be pruned. This approach, facilitated by the SRC101 standard protocol, prevents accidental asset spending and phishing by decoupling assets from their UTXOs, thus providing the highest level of security and immutability available in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
Bitname anchors accounts across all Bitcoin Layer 2 solutions, binding account information onto the UTXO for decentralized verification. It also supports binding for EVM-compatible chains and Web2 projects, creating a comprehensive identity matrix centered around Bitname Name assets.
